hinamatsuri luncheon.
3/2/13 06:53 pmI woke up to go to the Hinamatsuri luncheon my old Japanese school but after I finished getting dressed I realized my car was gone so I couldn't go anywhere. In addition to that, I found out that I was supposed to buy tickets earlier so they were most likely already sold out. I was debating whether to stay home or not. I messaged my friend to see if he was going, which he was, and he then offered if I wanted a ride. Lucky for me (kind of) he hadn't bought tickets either so he'd be in the same boat. So he came and picked me up and when we got to the luncheon it was, of course, already sold out. So we walked inside and looked around to see if anyone we knew was there. I saw my old Seyo and church friend, Saki, there helping with the curry. I was surprised to see her but apparently she'd been working as a second grade teacher at OCBC for two years now. Then Eric, my friend, spotted Sean, one of the guys that I'm acquainted with that he knows better. So we headed over there after getting stopped and spoken to by some teachers we'd had in our time at OCBC and to talk to Ko for a bit.
So we went outside to where Sean was and it just so happened that he hadn't bought a ticket either. So all three of us were lunch-less. We then walked back inside and just kind of stood in the back corner near the baked goods. Then I saw Yui, who was also working. So we got our food and sat down. The guys sat down with Ko and I sat down with Yui. I switched to sit with them after Yui went back to work. I actually didn't eat much, though, since I wasn't that hungry at the time.
When they started cleaning up we all pitched in to help. The teachers that we knew also told us to go help and do various things, too, so I guess we kind of had no choice. Kind of. I am not meant to lift heavy objects, it seems. I got red bruises on my hands from trying, haha.
All in all I had fun, though. It was nice catching up with people even if it was a little awkward (my Japanese has gotten worse).
On a side note, Yui commented on how "skinny" I was when she saw me. It seems to be a trend when people see me after a long time now. I don't think I've gotten any thinner or am particularly thin for that matter. I think I'm normal //stares
